The screenplay is called "Revelation Ridge," and it's about a college-aged young woman named Hillary, who is ostracized for her beliefs in a famous mountain monster, a "Bigfoot" type local legend. Hillary's beloved Grandpa Benny used to tell campfire tales about the monster, and although Hillary eventually came to realize that some of the stories he told her and her brother were embellished for their amusement, she always believed that there was some truth to them. Growing up, Hillary suffered embarrassment and humiliation for her belief in the stories, and was even criticized by her own family. As a young adult, Hillary just stopped talking about it to avoid conflict with family and friends.
When a renewed interest in the mountain monster takes hold of popular culture, and her corner of the Pacific Northwest is overrun with mountain monster tourists, Hillary's interest is renewed and she embarks on a journey of discovery that takes her to where she never thought she would go. (Too cliché? Sorry, that's what happens.)
I'll be using this blog to chronicle the steps I'll take to develop the story as a short novel in the young adult genre. It should be fun, and I hope that my readers fall madly in love with the story. As I progress, I'll be posting chapters here, and would appreciate it if my readers would comment on the story's development by clicking on the "Comment" link below:
